Anasa
A calm place to think, built around files you control
Anasa brings writing, links, tasks, planning, and optional AI into one desktop workspace. Your notes remain Markdown files in a folder you choose, so the app can help without becoming the owner of your work.
Powerful or calm. Complete or private. Pick two - until now.
The powerful tools ask you to assemble them from plugins and keep tending the stack. The calm ones can't hold your tasks, links, and plans. The convenient ones keep your notes in their cloud, on their terms. So your thinking ends up split across three apps, and none of them is really yours.
Use the full workspace when you are organizing. Lower the dial when you only need the page.
The dial
Files, tabs, toolbar, and status are all available for organizing and planning.
Use ⌘⇧⌥E to move one level
Use the amount of interface you need
Some moments need files, tabs, tools, and status. Others need a page and a cursor. The dial moves between five levels without changing your note or deciding how you should work.
- 100%
Full
Files, tabs, toolbar, and status are all available for organizing and planning.
- 75%
Balanced
Secondary controls become quieter but remain close when you need them.
- 50%
Quiet
The writing area becomes more prominent and the surrounding interface recedes.
- 25%
Focus
Navigation and status leave the layout so the current note can take priority.
- 0%
Blank
A reading-first view with only the document on screen. Raise the level to edit again.
Write normally. Keep Markdown underneath.
Use a visual editor, work directly with the source, or read without controls. All three views operate on the same file in your folder.
Connect related notes
Type [[note name]] to add a durable link. Create the missing note when the idea is ready for its own page.
Use tags where they help
Nested tags can cut across folders without requiring you to reorganize the files.
Reuse useful structure
Templates can fill dates and titles while remaining ordinary Markdown.
Keep a daily note
Open today’s dated note quickly, then review it through weekly or monthly views.
Choose whether AI is local, direct, managed, or off
Anasa does not enable AI for you. If you want it, use a model on your device, connect your own provider account, or use managed credits. The privacy, capability, and cost differ, so the choice stays visible.
Download freeOn-device
Use Ollama or Apple Intelligence on supported devices. Anasa does not send those requests to its servers.
Bring your own key
Connect a supported provider key. Its pricing, retention, regions, and terms apply.
Anasa managed
Anasa creditsUse credit-metered models without opening a provider account. License credits do not expire; Cloud allowances refresh monthly.
An agent, not a chatbot
The agent works across the notes you choose with 26 tools. Risky actions ask for your approval first; review the result before relying on it.
Changes stay reviewable
AI edits use the same document history and review controls as the rest of the app. Keep backups for work you cannot afford to lose.
Smart Connections
Semantic search can suggest related notes when the wording differs. Suggestions are not evidence; open the source and check.
Memory you can inspect
When long-term preferences are stored, they live in readable Markdown rather than a hidden remote profile.
The tools around the note
Tasks, planning, search, export, themes, and shortcuts are available when they solve the problem in front of you. They do not change the underlying file model.
Tasks in your notes
Markdown checkboxes appear in task, board, and calendar views while staying in their source notes.
Kanban & habits
Use a board for status and a simple history view for repeated work.
Instant search
Search the full folder, including Chinese, Japanese, and Korean text.
Code, math & diagrams
Syntax highlighting, LaTeX formulas, and Mermaid diagrams - all rendered inline.
Themes and display controls
Choose a preset, adjust the accent, or build a theme that remains readable for you.
Export anywhere
Create PDF, Word, or HTML output when Markdown is not the format the recipient needs.
Quick capture
Capture a note or dated task without stopping to organize it first.
Keyboard-first
Use the command palette and rebind shortcuts to fit your setup.
Calendar & time-blocking
See dated work in a calendar and place tasks in a day plan when scheduling helps.
